If I wasn't a structural engineer

Career Plan B (and C, D....etc)

• Cobbler - I like the firmness of shoes and the way the leather folds around into the sole. And I want to hit the shoes with a little hammer.

• Park Ranger/Naturalist - I’m not sure how I feel about the outfits, though. Sometimes there is good outerwear, but it seems like a lot of khaki.

• Co-writer for Weird Al - I like rhyming with a theme.

• Handyman - I want to see the inside of people’s apartments. And again, the hammer thing also applies to this one.

• Conductor - I like to wave my arms

• Death doula - I just learned that this exists.

• Hairdresser - I like the feeling of snipping. And also holding the hair up high to do layers. Plus chatting. I’m actually so serious about this one.

Now as a bonus: jobs I hope to NEVER have

• TV writer - I’ve never thought of a plot in my life

• Night doorman/watchman - seems very liminal space

• Food critic - It sounds good until you realize that you have to eat rich and salty foods more often than you feel like and sometimes when you’re not even hungry. I want to keep food joyful!
